 This book deals with the causes, nature, and impact of the split within the global jihadist movement, and the split between global jihad elements and other Islamic groups.

 The Divisions of Global Jihad offers a systematic and comprehensive examination of the wide range of divisions that contribute to the weakening of the jihadist movement. It separates these divisions into two broad categories, namely, fissures that separate jihadists themselves, and divisions that separate jihadists from other Muslim and Islamist groups. The first part of the book deals with intra-jihadist divisions, highlighting tensions and disputes over strategic, tactical, and organizational issues. The second part of the book addresses a number of important cases of jihadist clashes with other Muslim and Islamist groups of non-jihadist persuasion, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and the Shiite community. More than analyzing problems and fissures within al-Qaeda and its affiliates, this book addresses critical policy issues relevant to the broader struggle against the global jihadist movement.
